FAQs

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy offers you a space in which to explore any issues, challenges, or emotional difficulties you may be experiencing.  I am trained to help you express and explore your thoughts and feelings, and whatever comes up in the process of doing so.

What can psychotherapy help with?

You don’t have to be diagnosed with a mental health condition to benefit from psychotherapy.  Therapy can also be a place to work on your mental and emotional health more generally, to work through the regular challenges of life, and to explore and work towards personal goals.

Who do you work with?

I work with young people over the age of 14, adults, and couples.

Can you diagnose me?

As a psychotherapist, I am not trained to make diagnoses, nor do I wish to make any form of diagnosis.  Only psychiatrists can make a formal diagnosis of a mental illness.

How long will I be in therapy?

As long as it’s useful.  I don’t dictate how long you do therapy for; this is a collaborative process.  Typically, clients will work with me for 6-24 weeks depending on how in-depth they want to go.  I also offer long-term psychotherapy.  No matter how long you decide to stay in therapy, we will regularly review our work together (usually every six weeks) to check that you’re getting what you want out of it.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are 50 minutes long and will usually take place weekly.

Do you offer concessionary rates for students and people on low incomes?

I am currently unable to offer a concessionary rate, as all of my concessionary spots are taken. (Correct as of October 2024)
